I’m Fadli, originally from Indonesia, and this is the story of how the Polytechnic University of Milan and Sensei helped me build a future I never imagined.

The Beginning of the Journey: why I Chose to Stay in Milan

I arrived in Milan in 2016 to study Management Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and I quickly realized that this city had something special. When the time came to decide whether to return to Indonesia or stay in Italy, I saw a unique opportunity: to grow professionally in an international environment, immerse myself in a new culture, and—why not—experience the Italian passion for football up close. As an Inter fan, the idea of watching matches at San Siro was a dream worth pursuing.

But staying in Milan meant more than just football. It meant choosing a future of personal and professional growth in an ecosystem that values innovation and open-mindedness.

From Data Science to Technology and Consulting

My first professional experience was an internship at a fintech startup in Milan, where I worked as a data scientist. This role allowed me to apply the skills I had gained during my studies, using data to support strategic decision-making. This initial step into the working world taught me a lot, not just on a technical level but also in terms of soft skills: communication, time management, and problem-solving.

Yet, I felt there was still so much more to explore. My passion for technology and the desire for a more dynamic role led me to the world of IT consulting. As a Front-End Developer at a consulting firm, I had the opportunity to work directly with clients, tackle real-world challenges, and develop innovative solutions. This experience not only sharpened my technical skills but also enhanced my ability to understand client needs and translate them into tangible results.
